termux

termux is a terminal app for android and linux environment on android. It works by proot and no root needed.It has cli programs

It has many programs like weechat, wget, transmission, ssh with dropbear and openssh, python, git, play console games. It supports coding gcc by clang and make, cmake, vim, Ruby, Go, node.js, Rust.

Now go to file manager app, to folder of downloads, select the apk file and install app. Now start the app from menu, first it will download base package and setup. The base package zip can be downloaded separatly Now open the app, and run

#apt update
#apt upgrade

This will update termux to latest version of packages You are now ready to use, install uninstall packages with apt and pkg command

The core Termux app comes with the following optional plugin apps.

Termux:API
Termux:Boot
Termux:Float
Termux:Styling
Termux:Tasker
Termux:Widget

there are plugins like termux-boot to run app at android boot and termux-tasker to run termux commands from tasker and other plugin apps. This plugin apps can be downloaded from f-droid.

proot is a user-space implementation of chroot, mount --bind, and binfmt_misc. the proot environment allows use of chroot like implement many linux of distribution using ptrace inside termux.

first install proot-distro
pkg install proot-distro
proot-distro list
proot-distro install ubuntu
proot-distro login ubuntu
apt update && apt upgrade -y
exit
to exit

You can also search in search engine and github to manually download and install proot distro by running a script. You will then get a script to start distribution in path
